How to Prepare Your Home for Pest Control Service

Clear baseboards, secure pets, give access to crawlspaces. A few simple steps before service make treatment more effective and longer-lasting.

Getting the most from your pest control service starts before the technician arrives. A few simple steps help us treat more effectively and make results last longer.

Clear Access Areas

Clear items away from baseboards in the kitchen and bathrooms. Pull appliances forward so we can treat behind them. These areas are prime harborage for roaches, ants, and silverfish — and if we can't reach them, neither can the treatment.

Secure Pets and Sensitive Items

Pick up pet food and water bowls before we arrive. Cover fish tanks and turn off air pumps during interior treatment. Products are EPA-registered once dry — about 30 minutes for interior work.

Trim Exterior Vegetation

Trim vegetation at least 12 inches from your home exterior. Overgrown landscaping touching your house creates bridges for pests to bypass our perimeter barrier.

Give Access to Key Areas

Make sure your technician can access the garage, crawlspace, and outdoor storage buildings. These areas often harbor the heaviest pest populations and are the source of many interior invasions.

After Treatment

Avoid mopping baseboards for 48 hours. The residual product continues working for weeks. If you see increased pest activity in the first 7–10 days, that is normal — the treatment flushes pests from hiding before eliminating them.
